A capability tour of the Paynetics White Label Digital Wallet. This article tells you what the wallet does for you and your customers across both wallet types. For the high-level introduction see the Digital Wallet Overview. For a side-by-side feature-availability matrix, see Wallet Types — Issuing vs Invite-Only.
Capabilities Available in Both Wallet Types
Bank-grade security, end-to-end
Every payment moves through Strong Customer Authentication — PIN or device biometrics for in-app actions, OTP for fresh sign-ins. The wallet platform is SCA-audited, penetration-tested, and certified by an independent security research firm. Your partners and your customers get a wallet that meets PSD2 expectations out of the box.
A real bank account on day one
Your customers receive a unique IBAN at account creation. They can be paid via SEPA and SEPA Instant in euros, BISERA in Bulgarian leva, and Faster Payments in pounds — all settled into the wallet automatically. For Invite-Only wallets, IBAN issuance is a per-programme switch you flip during configuration.
Virtual and physical Mastercard / Visa cards
Customers can issue a virtual card instantly the moment KYC is done — usable online and in mobile wallets straight away. Physical cards are ordered from inside the app and shipped to the customer, with delivery times tuned per market. Both card types support freeze, unfreeze, view full details (PAN, CVV, PIN) after step-up authentication, and reissue on expiry. Card-control actions feel native.
Funding flexibility for partners
You can push funds to your customers' wallets at any time via API or batch CSV, from a dedicated funding account opened in your name at onboarding. One funding account per supported currency. Real-time or scheduled — the wallet ingests both and updates the customer's balance immediately.
Apple Pay and Google Pay in two taps
Once Paynetics has certified you with the schemes (Paynetics manages the full certification process), your customers can push their card to Apple Pay or Google Pay from inside the app — no manual card entry, no jumping to a separate Wallet app. Contactless and online tokenised payments follow from there.
Account Recovery that just works
PIN reset, phone-number change and lost-device recovery are all built in. For users with a linked card we add an identity-verification step using ID document and selfie matched against the data they gave you at sign-up — strong protection against account takeover. For users still in early sign-up we keep the flow lightweight. The customer never has to email support to get back in.
Loyalty cards in the same app
Customers digitise their existing physical loyalty cards by scanning the barcode and storing them in the wallet, sitting alongside their payment card. Pre-built templates for popular Bulgarian retailers, free-form for everyone else. Increases time-in-app and gives you another reason your customers open the wallet.
KYC tuned to your programme
Three KYC models — Partner Managed, KYC Standard, KYC Full — let you match identity verification to your risk appetite and customer-acquisition model. Full document and liveness verification happens in-app for direct-to-consumer programmes; Partner-Managed KYC fits programmes where you already verify customers in your own systems and Paynetics audits. The specific documents collected, the supporting documents required per country and the operational review SLA are configured during onboarding and detailed in the partner onboarding documentation — see your account manager for the specifics that apply to your programme.
What the Issuing Wallet Adds
Send and receive money to anyone on the Paynetics network
Issuing-wallet customers send and receive money person-to-person across the entire Paynetics wallet network — that's a multi-million-strong base of users on partner-brand wallets we power. Contacts ranked by recency, then same-wallet, then cross-network — so the people customers actually pay show up first.
Outbound bank transfers
Customers move money out to any SEPA or BISERA-reachable account. UK Faster Payments outbound runs through Confirmation of Payee, so customers get the same fraud protection they'd expect from their main bank.
Pay anyone with a QR code or a link
Customers create a payment request as a QR code or shareable link, the payer scans or taps, and the money lands instantly inside the wallet network — no card details exchanged, no friction. Useful for events, splitting bills, or any partner with a closed-loop merchant story.
Three ways for customers to top up
Customers fund their own wallet from an external Visa or Mastercard (with 3D Secure (3DS) for free customers and most cards), via cash at the Cashterminal physical-terminal network in Bulgaria, or with credit where your programme supports it. All three sit alongside your partner-initiated funding, not instead of it.
Acquisition and retention mechanics, built in
A configurable referral programme — your bonus rules, your minimum-load thresholds, your time windows — drives word-of-mouth growth. Promo codes redeemable by users who haven't loaded yet add a top-of-funnel mechanic for marketing campaigns. Both come with the analytics to measure them; see Analytics below.
Pay utility bills and motorway vignettes in-app
Customers in Bulgaria can pay their electricity, water and gas bills and buy a digital motorway vignette directly inside the wallet — increasing utility and stickiness. Fees configurable, including free-period and free-monthly-allowance promotions.
What the Invite-Only Wallet Adds
The Invite-Only Wallet is the natural engagement layer for partners running their own card programme under BIN Sponsorship: you own the cardholder ledger and the cards; the wallet is your customer-facing surface.
Pre-issue cards, your customers link them
You create the user record and assign a card via API or batch upload. The customer receives an invite from you (email or any channel of your choice), downloads the app, enters their codes, and they're spending — usually within minutes. No queue at KYC, no waiting for plastic. Ideal for employee benefit programmes, members-only schemes, and closed-loop ecosystems.
Commercial cards
The Invite-Only Wallet supports business cards owned by a corporate entity. Useful for partners issuing cards to a fleet of employee users where the underlying account belongs to the business.
Automatic 3DS enrolment
Cards linked in the Invite-Only Wallet are automatically enrolled for 3DS at link time — no SMS prompts, no extra steps for the customer. They get the protection without the friction.
Pricing Plans
Pricing plans configure the fees your customers experience inside the wallet. Issuing wallets support up to two plans running side-by-side; Invite-Only wallets run a single plan. Configurable fee types span monthly fee, top-up by card, FX, ATM, outbound transfers, physical card printing and delivery, virtual card creation, inactivity, OCT, cash-out and the Bulgarian-market services. Each fee supports free periods and free-monthly-allowance promotions on top of the headline number.
A "paid-for-free" promotional mechanic upgrades selected customers to a higher plan at no charge, triggered by your back-office when they meet criteria you define — useful for VIP retention, loyalty tiers, and seasonal campaigns.
The specific fee parameters available, the allowed minimums and maximums, and how the free-period mechanics behave are walked through during pre-onboarding with your Solutions Engineering contact.
Analytics and Engagement Tooling
Three integrated platforms come with the wallet:
Mixpanel — your own Mixpanel account, pre-instrumented with the wallet's event taxonomy. Build the funnels you care about; segment on whatever your team is measuring this quarter.
PowerBI — pre-built dashboards on wallet performance: registrations, activations, transactions, fee revenue, retention cohorts. Switch on, point at the dashboards your team needs.
MoEngage — trigger-based push notifications and email campaigns, fired by lifecycle events (dormant 14 days, first transaction completed, KYC abandoned, plan upgrade eligible). Convert engagement into retention without your team writing code.
All three are opt-in and provisioned during onboarding.
GDPR Consent Management
The wallet supports configurable marketing-consent screens shown at login. You provide the consent texts and the granularity you want; we configure the screens to match. Marketing consent can never be made mandatory for app usage — that's a hard line driven by EU data-protection law and also good product practice.
